Antoni Socias, Inca, Mallorca-Spain, 1955.
He studied at the School of Fine Arts of Sant Jordi in Barcelona. Antoni Socías confronts and associates with art through a permanent mental agitation that starts from the essence of things, self-portrait and disturbance. This artist raises philosophical doubts about the unfolding and derivation of the artistic object, which in a disturbing and perturbing, effervescent and uncomfortable way, presents itself as an acute and ironic conceptual proposal that deals with double personality, double morality and hidden faces. Socías' double pictorial objectives and his creative process drive the supremacy of the process of action above the outcome. This result with anecdotal dyes transmits the beauty of the original, the copy, the two original, the mirror, the identical and the absurd that Antoni Socías intentionally promotes to show hiding. From the center of things - like the region called Inca, where he was born, located in the center of the island of Palma de Mallorca - Socías radiates its questions as beams of light towards research and critical thinking. This metaphysical exercise of the palette of a painter who with great technical prowess promotes the mental process and the search not for answers but for expositions and questionings leads, after the disturbing action, to the expected and liberating suspension of the mind, to the illuminating epoché by above universal responses.
